Brevei Boards Welcomes You
A Bit about Me

Hello, welcome to my site! Before I start, this site is still under construction, come back for updates and new content. Little bit about myself, started my woodworking back in 1968, where I made a bowl and a small little box for my mom. Since that time, I finished High School, worked in the Federal Government for a few years and got bored of that. Then decided a military career might be good so became a member of the Second Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Second Special Service Force.
After Five years of that, went back to college and got a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Diploma and worked in that trade for a few years. This led me to rejoin the Federal Government in Real Property Management and after about 40 years of that I retired and restarted my wood working career.
I enjoy the creativity of making various types of boards and seeing what comes out at the end with all the different woods I use. I buy my wood locally in the Ottawa Ontario area. I have a super small workshop in my basement where the magic happens, and time goes fast when I am down there.

BOARD CARE
All cutting boards made from wood will eventually crack, split, or even gain a permanent odor if they are not properly taken care of. The process of maintaining and preserving your cutting board for is simple:
- Hand wash your board after each use. Never submerge in water or
put in a dishwasher. Use a mild soap and no bleach.
- Dry completely with a towel immediately after washing.
- Do not lay flat a wet board as it can increase chances of warping.
- Lime or lemon juice and salt rubbed into the board is an awesome way to decrease odors. If any smell is still around, then try rubbing with a baking soda and water paste into the board.
- Avoid keeping board in sunlight.
- Applying a cutting board finish or food grade mineral oil every 2-3 months for occasional use and more frequently for heavily used boards.
- Store your board in a dry place.
